On September 4, 1929, eleven ladies met to discuss the organization of a garden club. The name "Green Tree Garden Club" was suggested by Mrs. Fitzhugh Scott and was "decided upon."
The first meeting of The Green Tree Garden Club was held on September 19, 1929.
